Low SES students learn a programming language

Surveys of secondary students in a low-SES Australian school about the delivery of STEM subjects reported issues with unattractive curriculum, absence of authentic and purposeful tasks, very low confidence, low engagement, and a desire to use technology. A Python language programming project was implemented to address these issues.

Remote proctoring allows students to take an assessment at a remote location while ensuring the integrity of the exam. These systems require students to confirm their identity, and, during the exam, the system monitors students through video, looking for behavior that could indicate cheating.

TPACK - time to reboot?

An analysis of 22 papers about Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) considers how this research addresses the key questions: What do teachers need to know in order to integrate technology effectively in the classroom and how can they best develop that knowledge? It concludes that greater focus should be given to how TPACK helps understand how to develop the capacity of teachers and pre-service teacher education students to use technology effectively in their teaching.
